In the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, the athlete was a global sensation by scoring the very first ever perfect ten in sport's history. In addition she scored another six perfect 10s making her the youngest overall Olympic gold medalist, at just 14 years of age. In addition to attracting interest, she also assisted in helping Romania gain a global presence. Achieving an unattainable score was what made the sports legend famous and popularized gymnastics in every country. The sport also altered the perception of female athletes. Her impact on the Olympics was so powerful it is that 2 of her moves such as the toe-on movement as well as the release move, are named after her. Both are rated as difficult to the highest level. In addition to the Olympics, she showed remarkable results in the World Championships and European Championships too, making her a living legend in the sport and amongst the best-known gymnasts that the world can ever be privileged to.
